Ellie Sugden

Technical Manager

Ellie is a Technical Manager at Agulhas, providing managerial and technical support to a wide range of projects in the areas of governance, security, justice, women’s empowerment and social development. She provides research analysis on Agulhas CRUNCH projects relating to conflict, corruption and humanitarian crises.

Ellie’s technical background lies in governance, public-administration and anti-corruption programming. Recently based in Beirut, she worked on the European Union’s Technical Assistance Facility to the Government of Lebanon providing demand driven support to public administration bodies.

Ellie has 5 years of experience working with donors such as UNDP, UK Department for International Development, UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the EU. She has extensive experience designing and delivering international development programmes in conjunction with government partners, civil society and donors. Ellie is committed to pushing for progressive aid practices and is a Co-Founder of Our Generation for Inclusive Peace, an intersectional feminist research and advocacy platform working to shake up pre-existing power structures in the peace and security space.


Key work skills

An active advocate for progressive change, Ellie is engaged in key debates within the aid space, specifically around governance and anti-corruption. She has experience applying a feminist approach to peace-building programming and is a co-lead of the Agulhas Unlearning team. Ellie is also well experienced in shaping technical assistance programmes to deliver effective change.

Other interests

Ellie is a book worm, yogi, keen sports player and avid consumer of popular culture. She loves debriefing on books and music with friends and family over a coffee or glass of wine. Alongside running Our Generation for Inclusive Peace she spends her spare time over-socialising and over-eating.
