Ellie is a Technical Manager at Agulhas, providing managerial and technical direction to a wide range of projects in the areas of governance, security, justice, women’s empowerment and social development. She provides research analysis on Agulhas CRUNCH projects relating to conflict, corruption and humanitarian crises. This includes the UN Women’s Gendered Realities of Displacement study, used to increase knowledge on the gendered experiences of displacement and the humanitarian needs of Syrian women and girls in Iraq, Jordan and Lebanon. Ellie has managed an impact analysis of UNDPs projects implemented by the Lebanon Host Community Support Programme through a perception study in 10 communities across Lebanon, monitoring shifting perceptions of Syrian refugees by host communities.
Ellie’s technical background lies in governance, peacebuilding, the WPS and YPS agendas, public-administration, gender and JEDI (justice, equity, diversity and inclusion). She has been based in Beirut working on the European Union’s Technical Assistance Facility to the Government of Lebanon, providing demand driven support to public administration bodies. Ellie is now managing a learning partnership with the BMGF, rethinking the power dynamics and functionalities of Technical Assistance Facilities.
Ellie has 6 years of experience working with donors such as UNDP, UN Women, BEIS, BMGF, DFID, FCDO, FCO and the EU. She has extensive experience designing and delivering international development programmes in conjunction with government partners, civil society and donors. Ellie is committed to pushing for progressive aid practices and is a Co-Founder of Our Generation for Inclusive Peace, an intersectional feminist research and advocacy platform working to shake up pre-existing power structures in the peace and security space.
