Catherine co-founded Agulhas in 2003, building a respected provider of high-quality knowledge services providing incisive advice and support to clients from around the world.

She is a member of the Agulhas Unlearning Team, working to support Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) practices of both Agulhas and its clients.

With the other Directors, Catherine leads Agulhas, an Employee-Owned Trust, working with a diverse team committed to a sustainable, more equitable world. Catherine also leads the Climate Hub.


Catherine works as a collaborator and convener to drive change and build momentum for a just transition. She is a catalytic leader and team builder across diverse, multi-disciplinary teams conducting evaluation, research and knowledge development in climate & sustainability.

Her key interests include promoting a just transition, enhancing climate action, enabling more climate resilient societies. She is a Commissioner on the Essex Climate Action Commission supporting a just transition to NetZero. She is a member of the Advisory Council for The Equity Index, a social enterprise advocating for greater equity across the international development sector

Her international experience over the last 30 years covers 45 countries in East and Central Africa, South Asia and Latin America & the Caribbean.


Key work skills

Catherine’s expertise includes building routes to a just transition, strengthening climate policy and supporting climate resilience, using evaluation and learning to inform strategy, applying the knowledge.

Other interests

Catherine is London Scottish, mother of two lovely teenagers, a keen chorister, aspiring yogi and a slave to her cat. She would like to spend more time at the ceilidh.
