Alida is a lawyer, a social scientist, and a highly experienced evaluator, with 15 years of experience in international development, principally in Western Balkans and Southeast Europe. With over 10 years of experience with NGOs and think tanks, Alida brings deep expertise on a range of policy issues relating to peacebuilding, war crimes and conflict related sexual violence (CRSV), gender equality issues, demography and population dynamics, in Southeast Europe and Central Asia. Ms. Vracic is affiliated with many academic institutes, most recently with the Institute for Human Sciences (IWM) in Vienna, as a Europe’s Futures Fellow, Visiting Fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR), Merkator Stiftung Fellow in Berlin and GMF Marshall Memorial Fellow. Alida also worked for the State Court prosecutor’s team in Bosnia and Herzegovina and at the Human Rights Commission within the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. She led several Balkan-wide projects at the Human Rights Centre at Sarajevo University and at the Spanish Institutional Programme-program for the region wide institutional co-operation.
Over the last 10 years, she has been a team leader or team member on many thematic and strategic evaluations and reports for bilateral and multilateral agencies, including many UN agencies, including GIZ, SIDA, UNDP, UNFPA, UNICEF. She was recently the team member for an ICAI review of UK aid to Ukraine, ICAI review on Democracy and Human Rights and led ICAI review PSVI in Bosnia and Hercegovina.
She holds a M.Sc. in international public policy from the University College London, a B.A. from the Law School at the University of Sarajevo and the executive education program of Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. She is a regular guest speaker at the international conferences, and native Bosnian speaker.
