Sanum Jain

Technical Manager

Sanum is a Technical Manager at Agulhas, providing managerial and technical support to a wide range of projects, as well as contributing to Agulhas’ strategic direction. She is currently a researcher on the Safeguarding Review for ICAI, and a technical expert on projects focusing on Equity and Inclusion in global development.

Sanum is an experienced international development programme manager with an understanding of delivery across multiple thematic areas including global health, public procurement and sustainability. Most recently, her PM roles included supporting GAVI and the South Sudan Health Pooled Fund on improving routine immunisation service delivery and acting as a grants manager for a CIFF multi-country programme to scale-up self-care in adolescent reproductive health.

With a background in start-up social-entrepreneurship, Sanum was a co-founding member and Head of Operations of an investor-backed social enterprise focused on water access in Ghana through corporate partnerships in the UK/USA.

Sanum has an MSc in Sustainably in Management from the University of Bath School of Management, focused on corporate governance and accountability, business ethics and sustainability strategies.


Key work interests

Sanum is also an advocate for addressing the issue of under-representation of minoritised ethnic groups in the UK international development sector, having co-founded REDI Collective, a network for People of Colour in the sector, which provides a platform for practitioners to exchange knowledge, share opportunities and feel empowered. She is also a co-lead of the Agulhas Unlearning team.

With special interests in safeguarding and PSEAH within international development, Sanum sits on the cross-sector working group, Safeguarding Leads Network engaged with knowledge sharing and the building of best practice.

Other interests

Outside of work and running REDI Collective, Sanum enjoys swimming, Thames river walks and exploring South Asian/Desi culture through networks, events and talks. On weekends, you can find her exploring the bars and restaurants of South London or visiting her family and honouring her Brummie roots.

Sanum is currently doing the Goodreads Challenge of reading two books a month, and is proudly on track.
