Mazvita Mutambirwa

Working across both the Conflict, Crises and Global Challenges (CRUNCH) and Climate Hubs, Mazvita assists with research and analysis across Agulhas’ portfolio of reviews, including those for the UN, Addis Tax Initiative (ATI) Monitoring and the Independent Commission for Aid Impact UK (ICAI).

Mazvita is part of the Multilateral Organisation Performance Assessment (MOPAN) team currently assessing UN OCHA.

She is also co-lead of the Agulhas Unlearning team. The Unlearning team have been leading Agulhas through a process of reflection and collective learning. Mazvita has helped to develop and co-lead in-house workshops with a particular focus on social inclusion, gender, racial equality and equity.


Prior to joining Agulhas, Mazvita worked as an Independent Consultant providing analytical support to projects covering thematic areas including; governance, gender equality and poverty reduction.

Mazvita also provided research support in the lead up to the publication of Rural Development in Practice; Evolving Challenges and Opportunitiesa Routledge publication by Willem van Eekelen.

She holds a BSc in Sociology from Aston University and a MSc in International Development from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom.


Key work skills

Mazvita’s thematic interests include girls’ education, gender in development, WASH and poverty reduction. As such, her MSc thesis title was “Girl pupil dropout as a cause for concern for development: A case study investigating the causes of girl pupil dropout from Secondary School in Harare”.

Mazvita is skilled in undertaking a range of research tasks, utilising a variety of methodologies.

Other interests

Mazvita is an avid football supporter and enjoys watching Arsenal games with her family and friends. She also thoroughly enjoys travelling and learning from others.
